Two More GCS Students Named National Merit Scholars

Greensboro, N.C. – Two more Guilford County Schools students have been named National Merit Scholars in the latest round of scholarship awards, featuring college-sponsored scholarships. These two students will receive scholarships from their intended schools, valued between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
GCS student winners are:

Andrew Snyder, Southeast High. Andrew will attend Mississippi State University to study agriculture science.

Nicholas Jamieson, Early College at Guilford. Nicolas plans to study computer programming at Rochester Institute of Technology.
A total of 138 higher education institutions are underwriting Merit Scholarship awards through the National Merit Scholarship program. An additional group of scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2026 competition to about 3,500.
In September, 17 GCS students were named as National Merit Scholar semi-finalists.
Two GCS students were announced in May as winners of $2,500 scholarships from the National Merit Corporation.
